Create a Mobile Website: 5 Reasons Plus an Easy Way to Do It

I think a mobile website is a good idea to at least try out to see if it improves your website visitors’ experience.  I recently went ahead to create a mobile website for several of the business websites I operate.

Frankly, the mobile websites I created look fantastic on mobile devices and dramatically improve the visit experience for current and prospective clients.

I took a little while to create a mobile website for my business websites because I wanted the right tool for doing so.

Recently, ElegantThemes developed what I believe to be an outstanding plugin called Handheld for creating WordPress mobile websites (it only works for WordPress websites – but works for any theme, not just themes by ElegantThemes).

I also created a mobile version of this website.  Check out www.websitetemplatereviews.com on your mobile device to see what I’m talking about.

Regardless how your website is built (whether WordPress, HTML, Flash, etc.), there are 5 universal reasons to create a mobile website.

5 reasons to create a mobile website

1.  Improve visitor experience on mobile devices

This is the obvious and biggest reason to create a mobile website.  At this point, few websites are “mobilized.”  I find it frustrating visiting non-mobile websites because the text is so small.  I’m constantly zooming in to different sections of the site just to read it.

2.  Impress website visitors

It feels good to have people believe that your business website is cutting edge and that you’re staying on top of technology by creating a mobile version of your website.

3.  Easier to brand

The right mobile website creator will enable you to create custom header/front page image display that is prominently displayed when people visit your site on a mobile device.  This can be your logo, but you’ll also want to display other key information such as your phone number.

4.  Latest blog posts get attention

A quality mobile website builder will make it easy to display your latest blog posts.  This way your readers and prospective clients read your latest work immediately when visiting your site on a mobile device.

5.  Highlight the most important part of your website on a mobile device

This is also an important reason to create a mobile website.  I did it with my business sites by including a discount offer and telephone number that is displayed front and center when they visit the sites on a mobile device.  This way my primary objective can be met within seconds of a prospective client visiting my site.

What’s so great about this is the important information is large enough to read without having to zoom in.

In order to take advantage of this reason to create a mobile website, you need to have a mobile website builder that enables you to create  a custom landing page image.  This WordPress mobile plugin offers this important feature (but only works on WordPress websites).

I’m not saying that if you create a mobile website that your conversion will increase.  However, I suspect it will and visitors will appreciate the convenience of a mobile website if you create one.  Just be sure to create a mobile website that offers the option in the footer to switch to normal view (it’s a pet peeve of mine when mobile sites don’t offer this feature).
