SBI Site Build It Review – Who Should Buy Site Build It?

SBI ReviewThis Site Build It review tells you what I like and don’t like about SBI.

In 2009 I signed up for Site Built It!  In 2011 I had built up an online business profitable enough to do it full time earning enough to support me, my wife and a child due to arrive at the end of 2011.

I started my online business with Site  Build It! in 2009.  Within 2 years, using much of what I learned from SBI! my online business grew to the point where it replaced my offline income and then exceeded it.  Site Build It! was the website building service and education that got me started.  It’s been a dream come true

In fact, I continue building my online business using the tips, steps, and information SBI! taught me.  Site Build It provides an absolutely sound online business model and teaches it well.

I no longer have any websites built or hosted with SBI (Site Build It!). My membership and hosting lapsed.  But when I was getting started with building my own websites, I did buy Site Build It and don’t regret a single penny I sent to SBI.  I learned a ton; much of that education I rely on to this day for growing my online business.

I built my first two websites with Site Build It!  More importantly I went through the entire SBI course for building an online business.  It’s a very good course.  As far as I’m concerned, SBI is more an education about building an online business than it is an online website builder.

This SBI review sets out the good, bad, and otherwise about my experience with SBI.

I’m incredibly grateful to SBI for teaching me about building websites and building an online business. I have a lot of respect for SBI – and you can’t fault the SEO techniques they teach because I constantly see Site Build It! websites ranking at the top of the search engines.  I apply many of their SEO techniques to this day with outstanding results.

Why am I no longer using SBI?

I read probably every article and watched every movie in the massive SBI library of tutorials. I gained an education for sure. I also built 2 websites with SBI that did well (I have since transferred those sites to the WordPress platform).

I switched to WordPress from SBI for 2 reasons:

  1. I liked the look of premium WordPress themes more than the SBI templates; and
  2. I preferred paying $6.95 per month for hosting where I could publish as many websites as I want.

That said, I don’t consider my time and money with SBI wasted. In fact, my investment in SBI paid off a hundred-fold given I’ve built a lucrative online business within 2 years.  Hence I’m promoting Site Build It here – for the right person.

Is SBI Right For You?

If you’re looking to learn about website building concepts, keyword research, search engine optimization, how to monetize a website, and how to build an online business, then buy SBI.  The education is worth every penny.

If you’re simply looking for a business website for your offline business, I’d go with WordPress or Yola (click here for my Yola review). If you’re new to building websites and you’re keen to learn about building an online business, then SBI is an excellent program. The real value in SBI is the online business building course, library of articles and videos. When you buy Site Build It you’ll follow a very well prepared 10 day course that gets you online with a website you can turn into a business.

In fact, I still apply many of the concepts and techniques I learned from SBI in many of my websites.

What the SBI Program Offers?

  • Hosting and domain registration for 1 year.
  • A website building platform. You don’t need to know any coding. However, it is a bit clunky – not nearly as intuitive as Yola.
  • Niche selection training (if you’re into niche marketing).
  • Keyword research instruction.
  • Website templates (this is SBI’s worst feature. The designs are not very nice).
  • Search engine optimization instruction.  SBI’s SEO techniques are second to none.
  • Content creation ideas and approaches (i.e. different types of articles and content to write – depending on the purpose of any particular web page).
  • Access to it’s very active forum (which is quite informative).  This is where you can get tips and ask questions on all kinds of topics – website design, coding, monetization, marketing, etc.  Because there are so many SBI users, the forum is extremely active and the amount of information is staggering.
  • Site Build It offers many real website examples of SBI users who have successful websites.  You can analyze these sites; take what you like and leave the rest.  There’s nothing like learning from real examples.
  • Excellent support.  I was a website building newbie when I decided to buy Site Build It!  I asked many questions through their ticket system and not once did they not answer a question.  This is a benefit of paying for a premium website and online business building program.
  • Social media instruction and integration.

If you go through the materials SBI offers, you’ll learn a lot. You can stay, but I suspect you’ll migrate to WordPress or Joomla – free platforms where you can publish more sites more easily.

My Site Build It dislikes

Any Site Build It review would be incomplete without listing dislikes.  I have 2 SBI criticisms.

  1. The templates are not that stylish.  I said it.  I know SBI says that design isn’t the be all and end all to building a website, but in my view their templates are outdated.
  2. The blog integration is not that great.  It’s hard to beat WordPress.  The Site Build It! blog module isn’t nearly as feature-rich as WordPress.

Again, don’t buy SBI for the website.  Buy it for the education if you want to build an online business.

Solutions to my SBI dislikes

If you buy Site Build It and decide to stick with them (there are many good reasons to do so), then there are solutions to my dislikes.  I didn’t recognize them when I switched to WordPress, but had I, I may still be a SBI user to this day.

1.  Template issue:

SBI makes it easy to upload custom HTML pages and templates.  Therefore go to TemplateMonster or elsewhere on the web and find an HTML template you like.  Then upload the HTML code into your SBI website pages and you’ve completely redesigned your site.

This process may require some work if you have a large site already that are dominantly pages; however, once you migrate to a stylish template you’ll be glad you did.

2.  Blog issue:

You can actually install a WordPress blog into your Site Build It website.  SBI was smart to enable this because it’s hard arguing that WordPress is not a superior blogging platform.  SBI offers step-by-step tutorials for adding a WordPress blog.

SBI Conclusion:

Some people swear by SBI, others say it’s a scam. I say it’s a solid education in building an online business and worth trying. Once you’re up and running and know what you’re doing, you can decide whether to change platforms or stay the course with Site Build It!

In fact, the more I work on developing blogs and my offline business websites, the more I realize how sensible the online business instruction SBI provides is.  Is it perfect?  No.  Is there more good than bad?  Absolutely.  Is it worth it to buy SBI?  Again, if you’re new to building websites and an online business, the course and instruction is worth the entry price.
