StudioPress Discount Code or Coupon Code – Looking for One?

UPDATED Jan. 31, 2012

StudioPress announced that they are NO longer accepting and offering any StudioPress discount codes on an ongoing basis.  This includes StudioPress coupon codes.  From time to time they may have a sale (which will be posted here so bookmark this page); however, there are no permanent, ongoing discount codes or coupon codes for StudioPress themes.

What about existing StudioPress discount codes on the internet?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they won’t work and will not result in a discount when you buy any theme or theme package from StudioPress.

StudioPress sent out a notice to all website publishers and affiliates not too long ago saying that all discount and coupon codes were no longer in effect.  Moreover, those website publishers and affiliates were to remove the codes or state clearly they are expired and not effective.

What does this mean?

It means you pay the stated price for StudioPress themes – including Genesis and the all-theme Pro Plus package.

Is StudioPress worth buying without a discount code?

In my view, yes.  I may be a little biased because I’ve been a StudioPress theme user for years and am a proud affiliate of their product.  This site is built on the Genesis theme framework by StudioPress.  I have many sites built on the Genesis framework.  I wrote a very detailed article about Genesis here.

Why doesn’t StudioPress offer a discount or coupon code any longer?

StudioPress sells a great deal of their themes through their sales force being affiliates.  An affiliate is someone who publishes a blog or some web property linking to StudioPress.  When someone clicks the link and buys, the web property owner receives a commission.  It’s essentially referral marketing.

I’m an affiliate but also an avid StudioPress theme user.  Anyway, for a long time StudioPress offered discount codes and coupon codes to some affiliates to help promote StudioPress … but not any more.  Why?

Discount codes and coupon codes present 2 major problems:

1.  Expired coupon and discount codes end up published all over the Internet.

I’ve tried buying products with expired discount codes and it’s endlessly frustrating.  You expect to get a discount, only to be thwarted. You either doggedly continue searching for working discount code or give up and pay full price.  Needless to say you’re disappointed not to receive the discount.

Online retailers that offer coupon and discount codes frequently change them according to the latest deal or sale.  This often results in many expired codes frustrating buyers and consumers.

2.  Affiliates who didn’t have access to a StudioPress coupon code or discount code are at a huge disadvantage.

Some online retailers provide exclusive discount and coupon codes to affiliates who are very successful and generate a lot sales.  Naturally, those affiliates who get to use exclusive coupon codes have a huge, and arguably unfair advantage.  How is a new affiliate to generate high-sales volume when other affiliates can offer an exclusive discount?  It’s tough.

Consequently, StudioPress wanted to level the playing field for all their affiliates and therefore stopped accepting any StudioPress discount code and all coupon codes.

In my view, the fact StudioPress values all affiliates equally is excellent and a smart move.  New affiliates will be keen to promote StudioPress because they are not disadvantaged from existing, big selling affiliates.

Another reason StudioPress no longer offers coupons and discounts

They don’t need to.  They are a preeminent premium WordPress theme developer.  They have over 52,000 users with dozens of themes available.  More themes (actually child themes) are released monthly.  The StudioPress Genesis framework is extremely successful.  In a nutshell, StudioPress sells a solid product.  They don’t need to sell their themes at a discount in order to attract customers.

StudioPress pricing is excellent without discounts!

In fact, the StudioPress pricing, even without a discount is one of the best around.  Why?  Because you only pay one time.  Many theme developers require that you renew your “membership” in order to continue having access to support and new themes.

Not so with StudioPress.  When you buy an all-theme Pro Plus package, you pay 1 time and get a license to all present AND future themes with lifetime access to all support.

You also get lifetime theme updates.

I’ve purchased dozens of premium themes and I can tell you that paying again in a year isn’t fun.  It seems like a long way off when you buy, but that year passes by quickly … always too soon and paying more money isn’t much fun.

What should you do next?

If you’re looking for a StudioPress coupon code or some form of discount, then you’ve probably decided on buying Genesis, an individual StudioPress child theme or the all-theme Pro Plus package from StudioPress.  It’s a good decision.  You’ll like the site or sites you build with StudioPress.

The fact is there isn’t necessarily one “best” theme developer.  In my view there are several excellent theme developers that I recommend.  Often it depends on the website you have planned.  I haven’t only purchased from StudioPress.

I’ve bought WordPress themes from many premium theme developers and use them.  Admittedly I use StudioPress the most, but that’s just me.
